Roof Soft Washing Newbridge
Our roof soft washing service in Newbridge uses low-pressure application of a cleaning solution to remove moss, algae and lichen right down to the roots. It is a much gentler method than pressure washing.
High-pressure washing can be very damaging to a roof. It can strip the protective layer from concrete tiles, force water under the tile laps and into the attic, and even dislodge tiles.
Soft washing works differently. The solution is applied gently and given time to do its job. You will see the result build over the following weeks, as treated growth dies and the Irish rain washes it away.
What roof soft washing includes
- Gentle, low-pressure application of the cleaning solution across the whole roof
- Treatment of moss, black algae staining and lichen on tiled and slate roofs
- Protection for plants, gutters and downpipes during application and rinsing
- Safe working from access equipment, so we do not walk on fragile slopes
- Advice on the process, including when a follow-up treatment would help
Why soft washing suits some roofs
Soft washing is the method we recommend for slate roofs and older tiles. Scraping or any pressure could damage them, so it is better to let the solution do the work.
It also suits roofs with light to moderate growth, where heavy scraping is not needed yet. Early treatment is gentler on the tiles and keeps the roof looking tidy.
While we are on the roof
As part of the wash, we replace any slipped or broken tiles and check the ridge tiles. If we spot anything else, we will flag it so you can decide what to do.
What happens after the wash?
You may not notice a big change straight away. Over the following weeks, the growth dies off and rain washes it away. For stubborn growth, we can advise on a second treatment.
Soft washing also suits the more delicate parts of a roof, including valleys and the areas around chimneys, where a hand tool or pressure could do harm.
Soft washing works well with other services. Compare it with our full roof cleaning, add a moss and algae treatment to slow regrowth, and book gutter cleaning at the same visit.
